Chief Minister honored SDM Fatehpur and Indora for better work in disaster

Chief Minister Thakur Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu, in a program organized by the State Disaster Management Authority in Shimla on Friday under the Samarth - 2023 Disaster Management Public Awareness Campaign, while praising the Fatehpur and Indora sub-division administrations of Kangra district for doing excellent work during the disaster, SDM Vishrut Bharti and Dr. Surindra Thakur were honoured.

Dharamsala, October 14, 2023: Chief Minister Thakur Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu, in a program organized by the State Disaster Management Authority in Shimla on Friday under the Samarth - 2023 Disaster Management Public Awareness Campaign, while praising the Fatehpur and Indora sub-division administrations of Kangra district for doing excellent work during the disaster, SDM Vishrut Bharti and Dr. Surindra Thakur were honoured.

Due to sudden release of excessive water from Pong Dam during the rainy season in Indora sub-division of Kangra district and Mand area of Fatehpur, flood like situation had arisen in these areas. Due to which many villages in these areas were submerged in water. In such a situation, Indora and Fatehpur administration immediately started relief and rescue operations with the help of the state government and district administration. In the rescue operation, soldiers of the Indian Army, Air Force, NDRF and SDRF risked their lives and saved the lives of a large number of people. During this period, more than 2200 people were safely evacuated and taken to relief camps. In this rescue operation that lasted for four days, the state government showed its commitment towards the safety of the people by evacuating 1778 people from Indora sub-division and 422 people from Fatehpur from the flood affected areas.

SDM Dr. Surendra Thakur and Vishrut Bharti said that the credit for this honor goes to the local people, sub-divisional administration and all the officers and employees associated with the disaster work. Who worked day and night in difficult times with better coordination as a team.

These officers have expressed gratitude to the State Chief Minister Thakur Sukhwinder Singh, the State Cabinet and senior officials of the State Government for conferring the honour.
