Chief Minister Punjab to flag off mega cycle rally against drug abuse from pau on November 16
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann will flag off country's biggest cycle rally against drug menace at PAU campus on November 16 i.e. the martyrdom day of Shaheed Kartar Singh Sarabha.
Ludhiana, November 15, 2023: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann will flag off country's biggest cycle rally against drug menace at PAU campus on November 16 i.e. the martyrdom day of Shaheed Kartar Singh Sarabha.
Finalizing the arrangements for this mega event, Commissioner of Police Mandeep Singh Sidhu said that Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann will flag off this cycle rally while DGP Punjab Gaurav Yadav will also participate in the event. He mentioned that over 20,000 participants have already registered their names for this mega event against drug abuse.
The CP said that this event would script new success in the county against the drug menace with such a massive population participating in the event. He further mentioned that this mega cycle rally will be a befitting tribute to Shaheed Kartar Singh Sarabha on his martyrdom day.
The Commissioner of Police further mentioned that anybody can participate in this cycle rally which would start at 7 am from PAU Campus and culminate at the same place after covering around 13 kilometres distance. He stated that soil from different places belonging to our martyrs will be brought to PAU Campus comprising soil from Shaheed Kartar Singh Sarabha's village, Shaheed Bhagat Singh's native place Khatkar Kalan, Hussainiwala National Martyrs Memorial, Native places of Shaheed Udham Singh and Shaheed Sukhdev wherein five different plants namely `Tree of Harmony', `Tree of Promise', `Tree of Wisdom', `Tree of Unity', and `Tree of Hope' will be planted in this soil.
He also said that people from all walks of life including doctors, industrialists, students, youth clubs, village sarpanchs, politicians will participate in this event; thereby making this anti-drug campaign into a mass movement. Pointing out further, the CP said that after the event lucky draw will be held and 151 selected participants will get new bi-cycles after the event.
Likewise, all the participants will get a certification of participation and medals after the event. He stated that the elaborate arrangements have been put in place to conduct this event smoothly teams of doctors, ambulances, etc. have been deployed at various locations. Participants will also get juice packs at the route.
He stated that the war against drugs can only be won with collective efforts; therefore this rally would act as a catalyst to spread awareness among the masses against the drug. He also urged the people of Ludhiana to participate in this rally in huge numbers to make it a mega success in the state as anybody can participate in it even without registration.
