Chinese, Indian, Myanmarese leaders mark 60th anniversary of Panchsheel

Beijing, June 28 (IANS) Chinese President Xi Jinping, Myanmar President U Thein Sein and Indian Vice President Mohammad Hamid Ansari gathered in Beijing Saturday to mark the 60th anniversary of the Panchsheel agreement enunciating the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence.

Xi delivered a keynote speech at the meeting at the Great Hall of the People in downtown Beijing to mark the anniversary, Xinhua reported.

China's Premier Li Keqiang, top legislator Zhang Dejiang and top political advisor Yu Zhengsheng were also present at the commemoration.

In 1954, leaders of China, India and Myanmar agreed on Panchsheel, or the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence, which stand for mutual respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity, mutual non-aggression, non-interference in each other's internal affairs, equality and mutual benefit, and peaceful coexistence.
