CICU and MLA to promote skill development and employment generation program

Ludhiana, August 5, 2022: Chamber of Industrial and Commercial Undertakings (CICU) organised a meeting with MLA to promote skill development and employment generation for educated and unemployed youth of Punjab at CICU Gill Road Office, Ludhiana. The meeting was chaired by  Upkar Singh Ahuja President CICU with Kulwant Singh Sidhu MLA Ludhiana. Many senior members of CICU and MLA’s office were also present on the occasion. The main agenda of the meeting was to prepare road map for employment generation of the local youth in the industry & trade sector of Punjab with the support of CICU Skill Development activities at CICU Skill Development Centre.
 
Chamber of Industrial & Commercial Undertakings (CICU) is running a Skill Development Centre since 2012 for unemployed and underemployed school & college pass out and drop out candidates for providing an access for Skill Development Trainings in short term (1-3 months) and flexi hour’s courses, improving their employability and making them available for proper jobs in industry and trade sectors of Punjab. These courses are run under different Government Schemes like Learn & Earn under Ministry of Minority Affairs (GOI), Prime Minister Koshal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) and Skill India Programs for re-enforcement of other National Programs like Make-in-India and Zero Defect & Zero Effect etc.
 
CICU has been organizing at-least 2 Job Fairs every year to provide employment to unemployed youth of the Punjab, to provide required workforce in the industry and trade. Last Mega Job fair was organized by CICU on 27th May 2022. In this event, 125+ companies and 5000+ unemployed youth participated. Different companies selected 2200+ candidates and provided the offer letters on the spot.  
 
After the meeting,  Kulwant Singh Sidhu, MLA Ludhiana, who was the Chief Guest for Certificate Distribution Function. He distributed the certificates to more than 50 successful candidates, who had recently completed skill training courses at CICU Skill Development Centre relating to the jobs available in Industry i.e. Computer Basic & Advanced, Accounts and Taxation with Tally Prime, Desktop Publishing (vectors & graphics), Web designing & App development, Programming languages, Digital Marketing, AutoCad 2D & 3D, Front line operation manager and store & inventory management.  The skilled manpower in these sectors is highly demanded. CICU is also providing jobs to these candidates in its network members companies, who have been selected by different companies.
 
Upkar Singh Ahuja, President CICU said that in the present scenario of skill training is very important for the up-gradation of productivity, quality, cost reduction & improvement of environment and making our industry competitive at National & International levels for sustainable growth. He congratulated the successful candidates and wishes for a bright & successful career. He further said that this will help the youth to improve their economic condition and keep them away from social evils, drug addiction and contribute to the progress of the State / Country. It will also help to check high level of migration to the other countries.
