CICU condemns enhancement of minimum wages from back date e.g. March 1, 2020
Ludhiana, December 1, 2021: Upkar Singh Ahuja, President and Pankaj Sharma, General Secretary, Chamber of Industrial and Commercial Undertakings (CICU), Ludhiana in a joint statement mentioned that Punjab Government has revised minimum wages, in which the minimum wages based on C.P.I were due on March 1, 2020, with a raise of Rs.415.89. Resultantly, the minimum wage has now been revised from Rs.8776.83 to Rs.9192.72.
They said further, the industry is running through very tough time and not in situation to bear the increases in Minimum Wages as industry is trying to recover the losses, due to pandemic. Moreover, to survive, Industry are selling their products at a very competitive rate by cutting costs at all levels. It will raised the burden on industry and in result, employment ratio will impact. Govt. is sprinkling salt on the burn.
CICU requested the government to abolish the same and start with current date, as the minimum wages is already higher, so that industry can survive in this competitive era.
