Ludhiana, August 8, 2013: Chamber of Industrial & Commercial Undertakings conducted Training Programme on Performance Appraisal- Its Nuances & Process today at CICU Complex, Focal Point, Ludhiana.

Avtar Singh General Secretary CICU in his inaugural speech emphasized that Indian Industry has a challenging time ahead which can sustain and grow by working hardly and smartly. Performance appraisal is a systematic and periodic process that assesses an individual employee’s job performance and productivity in relation to certain pre-established criteria and organizational objectives. MSMEs have to cope with changing time by adopting Systematic Evaluation of the performance of employees and to understand the abilities of a person for their further growth & development. An effective appraisal may not only eliminate behavior and work-quality problems, it can motivate an employee to contribute more. Often, a company will ask its employees to perform "360-degree feedback" that assesses peers and subordinates as well as supervisors and management.

Upkar Singh Joint Secretary CICU welcomed the participants and said after Globalization of markets and liberalization of Indian economy, the Indian Industries have been experiencing stiff competition. Performance Appraisal is an investment for the company which helps to chalk out the promotion programs, compensation packages, analyze strengths and weaknesses, designing new jobs for efficient employees and framing future development programs. The organization is benefited as Performance Appraisal communicates corporate goals, provides management with decision making information on human resources, builds stronger working relationships, provides objective basis for promotion, training and other personnel actions, improves overall organizational productivity and provides documentation for inquiries for general promotion policies or individual claims of discrimination. It encourages   employees for taking responsibility for their performance and progress, helps set goals and direct efforts, provides opportunity for career development and improvement and assures fair individual evaluations.

The interactive & thought-provoking programme was conducted Capt S Jolly, an ex-armed forces person having immense experience in corporate training delivery.

More than 50 participants comprising proprietors, partners, directors, general managers and HRD heads representing various industries attended this programme and significant strategies emanated for enhancing efficiency and strengthening execution capabilities in organizations. The training provided to the participants an extensive knowledge on the subject and its implementation will definitely benefit industry.
