Ludhiana: A meeting of CICU executives with Balbir Singh Rajewal, President, Bharti Kisan Union and member all India Kisan Morcha, was held to discuss the issue of stoppage of rail movement.
Upkar Singh Ahuja, President, CICU said that Government of India should not be adamant to take a stand which is not in the interest of neither agriculture nor Industry sector.
Pankaj Sharma, General Secretary, CICU said Government had asked Railways to stop goods train service which has affected Trade & Industry of Punjab.
R.C. Ralhan, Ex-President, FIEO, said the Leaders of Farm agitation has taken a stand against the Govt. policy which is not in the interest of the farmers. But the leaders have clearly stated to the Central Govt. and Railway Ministry not to discontinue goods trains.
Balbir Singh Rajewal, President, Bharti Kisan Union said that farmer union has already withdrawn from railway tracks and are putting the agitation on platforms only. So it’s wrong to put the blame on union leaders. The govt. has stopped goods train service just to put blame on farmers so as to affect their agitation.
Industrialist from Punjab represented by FIEO & CICU supported the grieving demands of farmers and also requested Govt. of India to lend all type of support to the Industry which is already reeling in depression. Govt. should start the goods trains service immediately so that Import & Export can be started without any further delay. The stoppage of goods train has hampered trade and there is loss of more than 1500 crore in last one month.
The meeting was attended by K.K Seth, J.S Bhogal, Gautam Malhotra, S.B Singh, Honey Sethi, Didarjit Singh, Sarvjeet Singh and other senior members of the Chamber.
