CICU organised visit of NIDH Students to different industries to strengthen deigns capabilities in industry

Ludhiana, October 17, 2023: CICU Organised Visit of NIDH (National Institute of Design & Development) B. Tech Students of Industrial Design & Development to the Various Industries to give them a practical knowledge of applications of the Design & Development subject for the best practices relating to the manufacturing i.e., production quality, logistic & cost etc. so that the ultimate products are globally competitive in the National & International Markets.

25 students of NIDH & their faculty visited the 3 important industries i.e., Avon Cycles Ltd, Big Ben Industries & New Swan MultiTech Ltd (Agro Implements Division).

During their visit to Avon Cycles Ltd at G.T. Road Ludhiana which is a world class cycle manufacturing industry producing about 10,000 to 12,000 cycles per day the student were shown the production of bicycle by using various material like steel, aluminum and rubber etc. as per best practices of Design & Development expertise for producing world class cycles which are exported to many countries. This includes cycles for all types with different features & different for age groups etc.

After That they visited Big Ben Industries at Village Rayian, Machiwara Road, Ludhiana. This Steel Manufacturing Unit is producing world class furniture for 100% export. The students were shown the manufacturing processes, fabrication, finishing & packing techniques based on latest Design & Development Engineering to have an edge on the global markets.
The third unit visited by the NIDH students was New Swan MultiTech Ltd (Agro Implements Division) to learn latest agriculture equipment’s and machinery, materials & technology used in production as per Design & Development Applications.

This visit will provide the students a valuable insight in to the above industries manufacturing practices which is crucial for them for the application of their knowledge in industrial design.

The institute authorities expressed their thanks to CICU management for organizing this highly valuable visit for practical learning of the manufacturing processes relating to Design & Development of the products & processes.    

Narinder Kumar Gupta, Director CICU who is the Coordinator of this Program was hopeful that the learnings & knowledge gained by the students will enable the students to practically handle the Design & Development Application of their knowledge gained during their studies.

Upkar Singh Ahuja, President CICU said that practical knowledge of Design & Development for manufacturing products & services is very vital to all B. Tech students so that they may contribute their best while they serve the industry. He was also thankful to the management of above industries who allowed the students to visit their units. He said they hope that more and more institutes will also join CICU for such training programs.
