CICU unveils State-of-the-Art Awadh CPS Lab in Collaboration with IIT Ropar
The Chamber of Industrial and Commercial Undertakings (CICU) inaugurated AWaDH CPS Lab today at the CICU Complex, in collaboration with the IIT Ropar Technology and Innovation Foundation. This initiative marks the beginning of a new era, as it aims to bridge the gap between industry and academia, providing a platform for advanced research and skill development in the emerging field of Internet of Things (IoT) and Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS).

Ludhiana, February 20, 2025: The Chamber of Industrial and Commercial Undertakings (CICU) inaugurated AWaDH CPS Lab today at the CICU Complex, in collaboration with the IIT Ropar Technology and Innovation Foundation. This initiative marks the beginning of a new era, as it aims to bridge the gap between industry and academia, providing a platform for advanced research and skill development in the emerging field of Internet of Things (IoT) and Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS).
The inauguration ceremony was attended by esteemed guests, including Osamu Shimada, Deputy Managing Director of Panasonic Smart Factory Solutions; Manish Gupta, Former Chairman of CII & Lead, Synergy Enterprises, and Member Hub Governing Board, IIT Ropar TIF AWaDH; Dr. Jatinder Kaur Arora, Former Executive Director, PSCST & Member Hub Governing Board, IIT Ropar TIF AWaDH; Somveer Anand, CEO and Mission Director, Innovation Mission Punjab and Dr. Radhika Trikha, CEO of IIT Ropar Technology and Innovation Foundation - AWaDH
Upkar Singh Ahuja, President of CICU, emphasized the significance of this collaboration, stating, "The Awadh CPS Lab represents a major milestone in our efforts to promote innovation and entrepreneurship in the region. We are confident that this facility will play a vital role in shaping the future of CPS and IoT in India."
The Awadh CPS Lab will offer a range of programs and services, including research and development, testing and validation, and training and capacity building. The facility is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment and software, providing a comprehensive platform for innovation and entrepreneurship. This will help students upskill and prepare for industry demands, ensuring they are ready for the ever-evolving technological landscape.
In addition, a landmark training session was successfully conducted with 45 students from Punjab College of Technical Education. This session was a significant step in associating the educational gap and providing students with practical exposure to the latest technologies in IoT and CPS. By offering practical training and real world insights, CICU aims to equip the next generation of professionals with the skills and expertise needed to thrive in these emerging technologies.
The CICU leadership, including Honey Sethi, General Secretary, Dr. S.B., Joint Secretary, J.S. Bhogal, Organizing Secretary, and Ajay Bharti, Finance Secretary, extended their heartfelt gratitude to the IIT Ropar team for their unwavering support and invaluable contributions in bringing the AWaDH CPS lab to fruition.
