CII Jalandhar Zone holds crucial meeting on industry issues and future opportunities
A significant meeting of the CII Jalandhar Zonal Council was held on September 28 at Hotel Mariton, Jalandhar, attended by various industrialists from the region. The primary objective of the meeting was to discuss the challenges and issues faced by industries in and around Jalandhar, with the aim of formulating strategies to make the industrial sector more effective.
Jalandhar, September 30, 2024: A significant meeting of the CII Jalandhar Zonal Council was held on September 28 at Hotel Mariton, Jalandhar, attended by various industrialists from the region. The primary objective of the meeting was to discuss the challenges and issues faced by industries in and around Jalandhar, with the aim of formulating strategies to make the industrial sector more effective.
Key issues discussed during the meeting included labour shortages, the development of basic infrastructure in industrial zones as per town planning, sewage and cleanliness issues at Focal Point, non-functional streetlights, the need for local-level approval of factory blueprints, the establishment of a new Focal Point in Jalandhar, rising energy costs, export-related concerns, and the limited use of new technologies. There was also a demand for necessary amendments to government policies and regulations to help make industries more competitive and efficient.
The meeting was chaired by Aman Mittal, Chairman of CII Jalandhar Zone and Vice President of Lovely Professional University, along with Ajay Sikka, Vice Chairman of CII Jalandhar Zone and Managing Director of Sharp Chucks & Machines Ltd. They both led the discussions on the challenges faced by the industrial sector. Mittal emphasized, "To empower and enhance our region's industries, we not only need to address the existing problems but also seek new opportunities. Technological advancements and the use of modern technologies are crucial steps in this direction."
Mittal further highlighted that CII aims to act as a bridge between the industry and the government to ensure that the issues faced by the business community are presented on the right platform, with necessary steps taken for their swift resolution. In his capacity with Lovely Professional University, he also stressed the importance of fostering synergy between education and industry, ensuring that a skilled workforce and innovation can drive the industrial sector forward.
Distinguished guests of honor at the event were Himanshu Aggarwal, Deputy Commissioner of Jalandhar, Komal Mittal, Deputy Commissioner of Hoshiarpur, and Amit Kumar Panchal, Deputy Commissioner of Kapurthala, who also contributed to the discussions on industrial development.
Members present at the meeting shared their views and provided suggestions for the industrial development of the region. They particularly emphasized the need for workforce development, improvement in manufacturing processes, and policy reforms to support industries.
