Chandigarh, March 14, 2015: Fields Medallist Professor Manjul Bhargava of Princeton University, USA has made several highly original contributions to algebraic number theory. He has introduced brilliant new ideas which have turned a subject that had been largely struck for years, into one of the most active areas in number theory today. His work is based on a unique blend of algebraic and analytic expertise.
Numerous honours won by him include the prestigious Morgan Prize, Merten M. Hasse Prize, Blumenthal Award, Ramanujan Prize, Cole Prize, Fermat Prize, Infosys Science Prize, Fellowship of U.S. National Academy of Sciences and Padma Bhushan.
In recognition of his iconic accomplishments, the Senate of Panjab University recommends his admission to the Degree of Doctor of Science (Honoris Causa). / (SK Vyas, jalandhar)
