City road named in memory of freedom fighter and former minister Lala Sardari Lal Kapoor
Road connecting Ferozepur Road (Near Grand Walk Mall) to Pakhowal Road (B7 Chowk) now named as “Late Lala Sardari Lal Kapoor Marg”
Ludhiana: Punjab Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Minister Mr Bharat Bhushan Ashu today dedicated the road, connecting Ferozepur Road (from near Grand Walk Mall) and Pakhowal Road (B7 Chowk) in the memory of freedom fighter and former minister Late Lala Sardari Lal Kapoor, at a function held here. Late Lala Sardari Lal Kapoor’s grandson Mr Sunil Kapoor and other family members were also present on the occasion.
While speaking on the occasion, Mr Bharat Bhushan Ashu said that Late Lala Sardari Lal Kapoor was a great freedom fighter and thrice remained MLA from Ludhiana (North) constituency. He informed that Late Lala Sardari Lal Kapoor was also a minister of Health and Local Bodies in Sardar Darbara Singh government in Punjab. He said that Congress party has always stood with the families of our great freedom fighters and leaders.
Mr Sunil Kapoor said that Late Lala Sardari Lal Kapoor passed away on 12-12-1991. He informed that he was associated with several social, religious and educational institutions such as lifetime Chairman of BL Kapoor Memorial Hospital, member of KVM School, member of DMC Managing Committee, and several other organisations.
Prominent among those present on the occasion included Senior Congress leaders Mr Ashwani Sharma, Mr Karanjit Singh Soni Galib, Chairman Mr KK Bawa, Ludhiana Improvement Trust Chairman Mr Raman Balasubramaniam, Mr Sham Sunder Malhotra, Mrs Mamta Ashu, Mrs Seema Kapoor, Mr Pankaj Kaka, Mr Dilraj Singh, Dr Hari Singh Brar, Mrs Rashi Aggarwal, Mr Baljinder Singh Bunty, Mr Baljinder Singh Sandhu, Mrs Amrit Varsha Rampal and a large number of residents of ward 73.
