Ludhiana, July 18, 2024: MP (Rajya Sabha) Sanjeev Arora held a meeting at Civil Hospital, Ludhiana on Thursday, to review progress of ongoing development works in the hospital premises. 


Among others, the meeting was attended by SDM (East) Vikas Hira, Civil Surgeon Dr Jasbir Singh Aulakh, Senior Medical Officer Dr Mandeep Sidhu, other concerned officials, and private contractors.


During this meeting, Arora’s emphasis was on to complete the development works on priority basis without causing any harassment to the patients and the hospital staff. He stressed upon the need to maintain quality in carrying out the works. He said he wants the hospital complex to be fully neat and clean and there should be complete hygienic conditions. He added he wants to make this hospital at par with any private hospital. 


Out of MPLAD Funds already allocated laying paver wherever required, rainwater harvesting, relaying of roads, construction of boundary wall, installation of streetlights, air-conditioners and signages in the hospital complex will be taken up on priority.


Total Rodent control has been achieved in the last 10-12 weeks at the hospital by a professional company Pure Pest Control, appointed by MP Arora to do the needful. Everyone is appreciating this step and achievement. Arora, also lauded Municipal Commissioner Sandeep Rishi for helping in moving the dump Site adjoining Civil Hospital.


He also directed that the minimum height of the boundary wall should be kept at 7-feet so as to check cases of thefts inside the hospital premises. He also directed to put rough glass on the boundary walls as a security step.


Arora also enquired about the progress of work going on for making lifts operational. Of the two existing lifts which have been shut for the last 12 years, one lift will start functioning on coming Monday and the second one will be operational in another next 7-10 days. 


All toilets are being renovated and tiles are being installed on all walls up to a height of 5’. Doors and windows in the whole hospital are being renovated/replaced as required. 


Further, Arora was apprised that the work of laying underground sewer is almost 90 percent completed. The remaining work is pending due to parking of vehicles of outsiders in the hospital’s parking. Arora took up this matter with the local traffic police to help in clearing passage for completing the work. He was also apprised that the work of painting the whole of the hospital building from inside-outside will also be completed in next 10-12 weeks.


Arora was also apprised about some issues related to Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL). On this, Arora assured that he would take up this matter at the level of appropriate authority. It may be mentioned here that around 4 lakh patients visit the hospital on an annual basis for getting their treatment.


Later, interacting with the media persons, Arora briefed about the outcome of today’s meeting. He said development works in the hospital premises are going on with the funds made available under CSR and MPLAD Fund. He said he has been apprised that fresh recruitment would be done to fill vacant posts of doctors and nurses in the hospital. Replying to a question, he said regularisation of contractual employees does not come under his authority, therefore, he could not make any comment on the same. He said he has directed all the concerned to expedite the work of development works.
