CLAIM: Appearance of Punjab would be totally changed-Som Nath

Ferozepur, November 5, 2012:  In the next three years, the entire work of sewerage and water supply would be completed in 142 cities in Punjab with a cost  Rs.8,600 crore and arrangements for the funds have already been made, said Som Nath, chief parliamentary secretary (Local Bodies Department, Punjab ), while speaking to the media persons, at Shaheed Bhagat Singh College of Nursing, Ferozepur.

On this occasion, Kamal Sharma, political advisor to chief minister, Punjab and Mohinder Singh Virk, Akali leader and Dharampal Bansal were present.

Som Nath said, “In the next three years, the appearance of Punjab would be totally changed.  After the completion of water supply and sewerage projects, the next task would be the roads net-work and Jawahar Lal Nehru Urban Renewal Mission would help in this project”. 

He further said, “To ensure the quality in development works in Punjab and no area is left undeveloped, two committees would be constituted at booth level and at ward level of 4 to 10 peoples depending upon the population of the area, who would help the councillors in supervising the development works and utilisation of funds and these committees will have legal recognition”.

Som Nath and Kamal Sharma said, “The Akali-BJP government in Punjab will provide houses to the homeless people living below poverty line and in slum areas besides repairing the roofs of the kachha houses for which Punjab Government team is shortly doing a survey on these projects”.

In reply to giving the financial help to the defunct municipal councils, Som Nath said, “With the transfer of VAT and property tax, the municipal councils would be economically strong”.

On asking specifically about development projects in Ferozepur, Som Nath said, “Kamal Sharma has been asked to send a detailed development project reports and whatever funds demanded would be provided to municipal council, Feorzpeur”.

In reply to the elections in Himachal Pardesh, as to whether BJP will come into power or not, both Som Nath and Kamal Sharma said, BJP will again come into power in Himachal Pardesh as the situation of BJP in HP is strong.
