Ludhiana, February 9, 2013: Executive Committee of Punjab Rifle Shooting Association (PRSA) held an emergent meeting here on Saturday and unanimously resolved that the conduct of Gurbir Singh Sandhu, president of the association, after perusal of evidence/proof provided by executive committee members has substantiated that, his actions and letters to be of ulterior motive due to which he has overstepped his authority and illegally tried to remove bonafide elected senior functionaries from their elected posts in the association which is convention to the rules and regulations of PRSA.

Addressing a joint press conference here today, the association’s senior vice president Rana GS Sodhi, vice president Lt Col JS Brar, honorary secretary-general Raja KS Sidhu and joint secretary NS Bhogal, said the today’s executive committee meeting also resolved that considering Gurbir Singh Sandhu’s condemnable/ illegal communications and actions, he is hereby removed from office of the President PRSA and debarred from sitting and holding any office in PRSA with immediate effect and his membership is suspended till further notice as per clause 8 sub clause (iv) of Memorandum of Association of PRSA.

They further said, the executive committee recommended that the removal of Gurbir Singh Sandhu should be placed in AGM of PRSA to be held on February 15 for ratification.

They told that the executive committee meeting was also attended by treasurer Opinderpal Singh and members namely Gurvinder Singh Sandhu, Deep Singh, Gurinder Singh Garcha, Kuldip Singh and Surinderjit Singh Ghuman.

They also handed over photocopies of the executive committee meeting’s resolution to the media persons.

Besides, they distributed photocopies of a letter dated February 4, 2013 addressed to Gurmit Singh Sodhi by the PRSA president Gurbir Singh. The letter reads; “As per resolution of the Governing Body of the NRAI communicated to me by the president, NRAI vide his letter No. TRG/ISSF/13 dated February 2, 2013 (copy enclosed, which is self explanatory), you are debarred from sitting and holding any office in PRSA from that date. Accordingly, I regret to inform you that you are removed from PRSA in every capacity. I will shortly communicate to you the name of the person to whom you may hand over the official record and properties of the PRSA. I would like to place on record my personal appreciation for your contribution and work put in by you over the years as Vice President, PRSA.”

Further, Rana Sodhi and others regretted that since Gurbir Singh Sandhu had become president of PRSA he had not called even a single meeting of the executive committee. It was the first meeting that held here today in the last about four years, they said.
