Dharamshala, March 28, 2025: In a remarkable display of courage and presence of mind, Aditya, a Class 10 student of International School, Fagu, averted a major accident in Theog, Shimla district, by stopping a runaway school bus carrying 40 children.
The bus, which had been left unattended, suddenly started rolling downhill. Without hesitating, Aditya sprang into action and applied the brakes, bringing the vehicle to a halt and preventing a potential disaster.
Former Chief Minister and ex-Union Minister Shanta Kumar hailed Aditya’s heroic act, calling it a moment of great pride for Himachal Pradesh. "Had he not acted swiftly, it is terrifying to imagine what could have happened to those 40 children," he said.
Moved by Aditya’s bravery, Shanta Kumar personally called the school principal, Shrigati Aradhana Bhardwaj, to extend his heartfelt congratulations. As a token of appreciation, he has sent ₹11,000 to the school and requested that Aditya be honored in a special ceremony.
Highlighting the importance of shaping responsible citizens, Shanta Kumar remarked, "Tomorrow’s India is built in today’s schools," and praised the institution for fostering such courageous students.
Additionally, he has urged Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu to recommend Aditya for the President’s Gallantry Award, emphasizing that such extraordinary bravery is rare, especially from a student with no formal driving knowledge. "At such a young age, Aditya’s decisive action saved many lives. Himachal Pradesh should celebrate his heroism," he added.
The incident has sparked widespread admiration, with citizens and officials applauding Aditya’s selflessness and quick thinking.
