Ludhiana, February 26, 2025: Cabinet Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian stated that the cleaning drive of Buddha Dariya, led by Rajya Sabha MP Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal, will not only benefit Punjab but also Rajasthan.
During his inspection of Seechewal Model-2 in Bhukhri Khurd village, which was designed to prevent untreated water from flowing into Buddha Dariya, Mundian emphasized that many believed the Buddha Dariya could not be cleaned. However, thanks to the efforts of Rajya Sabha MP Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal, the cleaning of this Buddah Nullah is now being undertaken as a mission. He urged the people of Punjab, particularly the residents of Ludhiana, to support the ongoing campaign to clean the Buddha Dariya and to participate in its maintenance.
Hardeep Singh Mundian described Buddha Dariya as an integral part of Punjab's heritage and stressed that it is the responsibility of every Punjabi to protect it. He recalled a time when people used to bathe in the river, but expressed sadness that it has since turned into a polluted drain. He also expressed gratitude to Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal for his efforts in stopping untreated water from flowing into Buddha Dariya.
MP Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal provided details about the model implemented to clean the untreated water from the village, explaining that the water will be purified by circulating it through a cyclone method in three wells.
