Cleanliness Drive (Swachchta Abhiyan) organized at Students Centre, Panjab University to mark Gandhi Jayanti
Centre for Social Work in collaboration with School of Communication Studies, Panjab University, Chandigarh, organized a cleanliness drive today at Panjab University campus, to mark the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti.
Chandigarh, October 2, 2022: Centre for Social Work in collaboration with School of Communication Studies, Panjab University, Chandigarh, organized a cleanliness drive today at Panjab University campus, to mark the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti. Faculty, Students and Alumni from the two Departments came together at Students Centre and participated in the cleanliness drive. The drive was led by Dr. Gaurav Gaur, Chairperson, Centre for Social Work and Dr. Bhavneet Bhatti, Chairperson, School of Communication Studies.
Students Centre is the hub of student activity at Panjab University campus and cleanliness initiative at this spot inculcated a sense of responsibility amongst the students to keep their environs clean. Dr. Gaurav Gaur, leading the drive, said that, “Students have an integral role to play in such initiatives and we at Centre for Social Work are trying best to instil the social values in our students.” The cleanliness drive saw enthusiastic participation from students who picked up used paper cups, plates and other litter and disposed them in an appropriate manner. Dr. Bhavneet Bhatti, said, that “It is essential that students from mass media connect with the social initiatives and grassroot realities. Marking Gandhi Jayanti with a cleanliness drive is in keeping with the Swachch Bharat Mission and is part of our social responsibility.”
