Cooperative bank earns Rs. 162 crore profit this year
Shimla, June 6, 2017: Chief Minister Shri Virbhadra Singh today inaugurated online the 229th branch of H.P.State Co-operative Bank at Thachi in Shimla Rural Constituency.

Speaking on the occasion, he said that banking system was the backbone of any financial system and availability of banking facility led to growth of economy.

He said the State Cooperative Bank since inception has been involved in overall development of the State, especially rural areas where people have tremendous faith in functioning of the bank.

Congratulating people of Thachi area, he said that the facility will give a boost to agricultural activities along-with opportunity for traders to park their funds safely for transaction through bank.

He asked people of the state to use ‘Himpesa App’ for money transaction through mobile. This App could be used for transfer of money, paying of bills and other banking purposes. He lauded the bank for issuing 50,000 Kisan Credit Cards and asked to ensure that it was available with every farmer of the State.

Chairman, H.P. State Cooperative Bank Shri Harsh Mahajan disclosed that the bank earned profit of Rs. 162 crore during this year and every new branch opened by the bank earned profit. Newly opened branch at Jalog in Shimla district attracted a deposit of Rs. 18 crore in the first month of its opening.

Managing Director, State Cooperative Bank Shri Gopal Sharma said that the bank had 77 ATM installed at different points of the State where cards of every banks were accepted. He said 12 lakhs account holders were being benefited with the services of Cooperative Bank.

Chief Secretary Shri V.C. Pharka and Principal Advisor to the Chief Minister Shri T.G. Negi were also present on the occasion.
