CMC Ludhiana completes 150 bone marrow (Stem cell) transplants
Padma Shri Professor Mammen Chandy to Visit CMC Ludhiana Ludhiana, March 31, 2019: A renowned Haematologist in India will be visiting Christian Medical College, Ludhiana on the commemoration of 10 years of stem cell transplantation and completing 150 transplants. This is also the completion of 125 years of service of CMC Ludhiana. Padma Shri Professor Mammen Chandy will be delivering the keynote on 5th April at Park Plaza on the history, latest technological advancements, and the challenges that lie ahead in the field of transplantation to fight the incurable cancers and blood disorders. Thalassaemia major is one of the childhood blood disorders common in Punjab, which affects children to be transfusion dependent for life. Transplantation can offer cure to them and CMC Ludhiana has one more than 60 transplants for such patients including matched related and unrelated transplants. Transplantation gives hope for blood cancers like leukemia, myeloma and lymphoma which can now be accessed in our city.
