CME cum ISBTI Meet at GNA University
Jalandhar, February 27, 2022: To promote the cause of Voluntary blood donation & to ensure supply of Safe blood to the patients, a state level CME cum ISBTI meet was organised by the Indian Society of Blood Transfusion & Immunohematology (ISBTI), Punjab Chapter in collaboration with GNA University under the patronage of S. Gurdeep Singh, Chairman, Dr. V. K. Rattan, VC, GNA University and Dr. Kulbir Kaur (National Deputy President, ISBTI) at GNA University, Phagwara with the theme “Safe Blood Starts With VBD, Becomes Safest After NAAT.”
Former LT Governor, Puducherry, S. Iqbal Singh inaugurated the conference. During his address to the delegates, he said, “Volunteer blood donation not only helps in saving human lives but it is also the noblest way to strengthen communal harmony, national integration & secularism in the country.” He motivated that all the healthy individuals between 18-65 years should make blood donation a way of life. Doctors, technicians, staff nurses, volunteer blood donors and NGOs across the Punjab participated and shared problems and issues about blood donation with each other.
Dr. H.S. Lamba, Dr. Apra Kara, Dr. Sonia Gupta, Dr. Ajay Bagga and Mr. Harpreet discussed various technical and motivational strategies and Dr. Sunita Bhagat (Joint Director PSACS) elaborated the effect of Covid-19 on blood transfusion services in Punjab state. Dr. Aikaj Jindal moderated the panel discussion in which selected representatives of NGO’s working in volunteer blood donation movement took part.
Dr. S.P.S. Sooch from Punjab Medical Council and Mr. Binkesh Kumar from Shrimann Hospital, Jalandhar congratulated and motivated the delegates and promised to extend their best services and help for this noble movement.
Dr. Kulbir Kaur former Director Principal PIMS elaborated the role of ISBTI as a bridge between technical and motivational people. Dr. Ajay Bagga Patron ISBTI Punjab urged the delegates to spread awareness about the activities being undertaken by ISBTI in the country.
107-time blood donor, Mr. Charanjiv Singh Lalli from Jalandhar was also felicitated among the other NGOs in this meet.
Dr. Monika Hanspal (Dean, Academics), Dr. Sameer Varma with other faculty members and students of Dept. of Allied Health Sciences GNA University put every effort to make this academic and motivational feast a big success.
Dr. Kusum Thakur, President, Dr. Mehar Preet Singh, Secretary and S. M.S. Ragbotra treasurer, ISBTI Punjab Chapter coordinated the event and thanked all the delegates for their contribution towards society in the form of volunteer blood donation movement.
