Ludhiana, December 10, 2018: Department of Critical Care Medicine and Department of Anaesthesia DMCH in collaboration with of Ludhiana and Punjab Chapter of Indian Society of Critical Care Medicine organizeda CME on a very important aspect of health care “patient physician relationship”.

Secretary DMCH managing society-Sh Prem Kumar Gupta was the chief guest of this academic event. He congratulated the efforts of organizing committee. He told that a physician's trust on his patients and a patient's trust on his physician are crucial for patient physician partnership to make the best decision in the best interest of patients, particularly in critically sick patient. He emphasized on two major concerns of health care in our country; non-affordability of health care for a common man and costly medical education. He told further that DMCH is giving subsidiary on medicines to the patients to make the treatment accessible to masses.

Eminent speakers included Principal, Dr Sandeep Puri, chief cardiologist and vice principal Dr G S Wander, Dr Ashish Bhalla, PGIMER, Chandigarh, Dr Dinesh Khullar from Max hospital Delhi, Dr Mridul Pandit Rao, Dr Amit Mandal, Dr Sanjiv Palta, Dr Nitika, Dr Ruchi Gupta, Dr Kunaal Jain, Dr BS Paul, Dr Shruti Sharma, Dr Dinesh Gupta and many other national stalwarts.

Organising Secretary- Dr P L Gautam (Professor and Head of Critical Care Medicine) told that the violence against health care workers is increasing globally and leading to fear in the mind of doctors particularly dealing with sick patients who are at high risk of complications. This fear factor adversely affects the care of critically ill patients in many ways. The honest communication between patient and physician improves trust and bonding.

Co-organizing Secretary Dr Suneet Kathuria said that a large number of delegates from different parts of state attended the CME.

A play on ‘Team Work was also held by Dr Sanjeev Uppal and his team which conveyed the message of establishing effective communication between patient & physician.
