FUNCTION ON NRI PUNJABI LITERATURE ORGANISED AT GGN KHALSA COLLEGE TODAY
Ludhiana, May 30, 2017: Dr SP Singh, Former Vice Chancellor of Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, has said that collective effort is required for the development of Punjabi language on foreign shores. He said this while presiding over a function dedicated to the birth anniversary of Prominent Punjabi writer and thinker Principal Sant Singh Sekhon, organised on the topic related to NRI Punjabi Literature, at GGN Khalsa College, here today.
While speaking on the occasion, Dr SP Singh said that “Punjab Bhawan”, set up by Canada based NRI Mr Sukhi Baath at Surrey (Canada) is playing a positive role in this regard. He said that with the start of literary magazine “Sugandhian” by Mr Baath, the young generation is getting the right platform.
Mr Sukhi Baath said that on the first anniversary of “Punjab Bhawan”, a grand function would be organised there in the first week of October, where hundreds of writers from North America would participate. He said that they are also in the process of digitalizing 10 lakh books for setting up a digital library, besides a mobile application is also being developed so that Punjabis spread across the length and breadth of globe can be benefitted from these projects.
Mr Kavinder Chand, Prominent Canada based Punjabi poet and coordinator of Punjab Bhawan, spoke in detail about the activities of Punjab Bhawan as well as their future programmes.
On this occasion, literary magazine “Sugandhian”, two books of Surrey (Canada) based Punjabi poet Mr Mohan Gill “Rabb Daure Te Gaya” and “Kutte Di Teerath Yatra” and a short stories book of USA based writer Parvez Sandhu “Code Blue” were also released by Dr SP Singh, Mr Sukhi Baath, Prof Gurbhajan Gill, former VC Guru Kashi University Dr NS Malhi, Prof Ravinder Bhathal, Dr Guriqbal Singh, Kavinder Chand, Principal Arvinder Singh, Director of GGNIMT Dr Manjit Singh Chhabra, Swaranjit Savi, Satish Gulati and Harjot Kaur, besides several others. On this occasion, a Kavi Darbar was also organised.
Prominent among those present on the occasion included Trailochan Lochi, Manjinder Dhanoa, Hardev Singh Kalsi, Principal Prem Singh Bajaj, Malkit Singh Aulakh, Jasmer Singh Dhatt, Balkaur Singh Gill, Sarabjit Singh Virdi, Dr Tejinder Kaur, Dr Gurpreet Singh, besides several others.
