College of Forestry Crowned Overall Champions at 9th Annual Inter-College Sports Meet

The College of Forestry, Nauni has been crowned the overall champion of the 9th Annual Inter-College Sports Meet held at Dr. YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni. The event witnessed spirited competition among teams from the university’s four constituent colleges — the Colleges of Horticulture and Forestry at Nauni (main campus), and the Colleges of Horticulture and Forestry at Neri and Thunag.

Nauni, April 26, 2025: The College of Forestry, Nauni has been crowned the overall champion of the 9th Annual Inter-College Sports Meet held at Dr. YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni. The event witnessed spirited competition among teams from the university’s four constituent colleges — the Colleges of Horticulture and Forestry at Nauni (main campus), and the Colleges of Horticulture and Forestry at Neri and Thunag.

This year, over 360 athletes participated across various track and field disciplines and team events, showcasing exceptional talent and determination. Speaking at the closing ceremony, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Rajeshwar Singh Chandel commended the participants for their exemplary sportsmanship, fitness and teamwork. He emphasized the importance of sports as an integral part of education, promoting holistic student development. Congratulating all the winners and participants, Prof. Chandel remarked that sports instill a sense of belonging and teamwork, and play a vital role in steering youth away from social evils like substance abuse.

 

Dean of Students’ Welfare, Dr. HP Sankhyan, expressed gratitude to the students for making the sports meet a thrilling and memorable event. The Chief Guest presented awards to the winners and runners-up across various disciplines.

 

Results

Overall Champions: College of Forestry edged out the College of Horticulture to claim the title. In Men’s Volleyball: College of Horticulture and Forestry, Neri defeated Forestry College. In Women’s Volleyball, College of Horticulture beat Forestry College. In Men’s and Women’s Basketball: Forestry College triumphed over Horticulture College in both categories. In Kabaddi competition, Thunag team beat Forestry College in the men's category, while the Horticulture College women’s team beat Forestry College. In Football, Forestry College won the men’s final against Horticulture, while Thunag triumphed over Neri in the women’s category. In Badminton, Forestry College defeated Horticulture in the men’s category, while Horticulture College took the title in women’s. In Table Tennis, Horticulture College emerged victorious in both men's and women's categories against Neri.

In men’s chess, Horticulture defeated Neri, while in women’s, Forestry College beat Thunag. The Puran Anand Adlakha Best Sportsperson Award was bagged by Anuj Kapil (Forestry College) and Astha (Horticulture College) while forestry college’s Ram Babu Chaudhary and Anjali Thakur bagged the Best Athlete Awards.
