Combat social menaces

Chandigarh, August 25:Bikram Singh Majithia, Information and Public Relations Minister, Punjab today urged the youth to come forward in true spirit to combat the social evils by following the footsteps of great Indian icons.

Presiding over a function organized for motivating youth icons of Northern Region here, Majithia laid stress on the need for active participation of our youngsters in the campaigns and movements against social menaces. He said that it would be helpful for us to build a strong nation and for the development of country in all spheres.

Majithia called upon the education faculty and parents to increase the participation of youngsters in the social activities to spread a massive message to fight against the wrongdoings in the system including corruption, drug addiction, dowry, female foeticide.

He also called upon the young generations to convert the dreams envisioned by Shaheed Bhagat Singh and other great martyrs and freedom fighters into reality to enjoy the real independence. “Any individual, who has positive impact on the society, is an icon and to my mind every individual should stride hard to be an icon as India is a young nation having very bright future. But it all depends how actively our young generation takes part in nation building. I urged all the youngster to actively participate for this cause as our patriots restless efforts became India an independent nation,” Majithia quipped.

Describing Youth Welfare Board, a boon, constituted by Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal, the Minister said that by setting up of such platforms for the welfare of youth, we can channelized the energy and caliber of them in a positive way. He said that Punjab Government has facilitated more than 1.25 lakh youth with employment in various public sectors to bring more efficiency in the government functioning. He said that we should launch collective efforts on war level to utilize the talent of youth properly for the betterment of society, states and country.

On being asked about his inspirational icon, Majithia said that all those people who inspire and motivate the people in positive direction and leave imprint on the minds leave a constructive impact like Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Dr. B. R. Ambedkar etc are the inspirational sources for all of us. He also exhorted the budding stars and the established icons to encourage the young generations by adopting their expertness in the respective fields for building of strong nation.

Honouring the under 30 young icons, Majithia said that the youth of our country should get motivation from the hard works of these budding stars to brush aside the threats to society.

Meanwhile he also announced all possible help from the Punjab Government for youngsters in the direction of development and betterment of state and country besides tackling all social evils.

Prominent amongst those were present on the occasion Actress Gul Panag, Miss India 2012 Vanya Mishra, Writer Kanika Dhillon and Actor Kunal Kapoor, Comedian Kapil Sharma.
