Commemorate assassination of Mahatma Gandhi
In solemn observance of Martyrs' Day, recognised nationally on January 30 to commemorate the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi in 1948 by Nathuram Godse, the Department of Education at Punjab University, Chandigarh, paid heartfelt tribute by observing 2 minutes silence.
Chandigarh, January 30, 2024: In solemn observance of Martyrs' Day, recognised nationally on January 30 to commemorate the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi in 1948 by Nathuram Godse, the Department of Education at Punjab University, Chandigarh, paid heartfelt tribute by observing 2 minutes silence.
The event aimed not only to honor the memory of Mahatma Gandhi but also to acknowledge the sacrifices of all those who played a crucial role in the struggle for India's independence. Active participation from students, faculty members and administrative staff created a powerful atmosphere of remembrance and unity. Through these activities, the Department aimed to raise awareness, educate the academic community about the historical significance of Martyrs' Day and instill a sense of national pride. As we commemorate the sacrifices made by our freedom fighters, this observance becomes a momentous reminder of the values and principles for which Mahatma Gandhi and countless others laid down their lives.
