Commemorating Kargil Vijay Diwas at University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Panjab University, Chandigarh with Living Legends
University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Panjab University, Chandigarh, commemorated Kargil Vijay Diwas on 31st July. It was a step towards motivating the students and appreciating those in olive green, blue and white who safeguard our borders, skies and oceans.
Chandigarh, August 1, 2024: University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Panjab University, Chandigarh, commemorated Kargil Vijay Diwas on 31st July. It was a step towards motivating the students and appreciating those in olive green, blue and white who safeguard our borders, skies and oceans.
The event began with a welcome address by Professor Anil Kumar Chairperson University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences and was graced by the presence of legends Brig. HS Sohi (Shaurya Chakara, Sena Medal), Col. Manjinder Singh Kular and Capt. Suresh Sharma. Brig. H.S. Sohi is a decorated veteran awarded with the Sena Medal as a Second Lieutenant, the Shaurya Chakra, the Wound Medal and declared a Battle Casualty as a Captain for his valour and bravery. His stories from few hundred operations, while fighting against the terrorists in the Kashmir valley back and combat were absolutely thrilling to hear. Col. Manjinder Singh Kular who fought to protect our country land during the Kargil War, 1999, inspired the students to serve for the country with “junoon” and “jasba”, irrespective of working in any field. The session concluded with closing remarks by Capt. Suresh Sharma, who is also an ex-Army officer and was part of the Indian Peace Keeping Force (IPKF) in Sri Lanka in 1987-88. He shared his experience from the war time in Sri Lanka and how the Indian Army transforms boys into men and soldiers.
The event ignited a sense of patriotism amongst the students and deepened the sense of gratitude for our brave soldiers.
