Community efforts necessary for drug-free society: ADC

Dharamshala: Additional Deputy Commissioner Raghav Sharma said that collective efforts are needed to build a drug-free society. Everyone has to work together to save the younger generation from this quagmire.
Sharma today chaired the conference organized by the District Red Cross Society Kangra in the auditorium of the Central University on International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking in the District Kangra and its prevention in future, in collaboration with Educare India and Central University.
He said, “ on the initiative of the administration, an effort will be made to start the District Effort Cooperation Campaign in which interested people will be connected at the village level. Collective efforts are needed to build a drug-free society. Everyone has to work together to save the younger generation from this quagmire. Our objective is to spread awareness among all the people regarding the ill effects of drug abuse and government schemes, policies etc. available to the victims and provide effective de-addiction and rehabilitation facilities.
Sharma said that NGO Educare India along with Red Cross is taking initiative to coordinate efforts in the district,  Which includes health, police, education, NYK, PR and the cooperation of other non-governmental organizations.
The ADC said that many young people start consuming narcotics out of curiosity, confused with the glare of modernity. They do not know that they are slowly becoming intoxicated, and suffer from incurable diseases simultaneously. He said that today's citizen wants to spend his life in his own style. He does not like to interfere in this. In the art of living this life, he is also trying to escape from his responsibilities. Its adverse effects are on the family and society.
Sharma said that the guidance of parents and teachers affects children's style of living to a great extent. We also have to make them aware of their obligations to the family, society and the nation. If they do not do this, then the younger generations will not be responsible about their lives and their obligations.
Harjit Bhullar, a volunteer resource person at Red Cross Society, conducted the meeting and the role of families, educational institutions, community-based, NGOs, in the prevention of drug abuse, withdrawal symptoms and treatment services, keeping children away from drugs. shed light on.
