Ludhiana, December 15, 2018: Deputy Commissioner Mr Pardeep Kumar Agrawal today informed that under the Mission Tandrust Punjab and to commemorate 550th Parkash Purab of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, a total of 5,17,550 tree saplings (550 for each gram panchayat) would be planted in Ludhiana district. For the success of this project, a comprehensive plan has been formulated by the District Administration.

A district level committee in this regard has been formed to ensure that the land for planting these tree saplings is identified and the saplings are planted as well as maintained properly. This committee would work under the direct supervision of Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) and Divisional Forest Officer.

While chairing a meeting in this regard, the Deputy Commissioner Ludhiana informed that the District level committee comprises of all Sub Divisional Magistrates, AETC Ludhiana-2, Land Acquisition Collector Improvement Trust Ludhiana, Joint Commissioner Municipal Corporation Ludhiana, Estate Officer GLADA, Deputy Director Local Government, District Public Relations Officer, District Information Officer, all Block Development and Panchayat Officers and block level Forest Officers. Besides, a nodal officer has also been appointed for all 941 gram panchayats of Ludhiana district.

Mr Agrawal informed that the entire process has to be carried out before the next Parkash Purab of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji and that is why, a time frame for each work has been fixed that would be followed strictly by the officers.

He stated that the identification of proper land is to be done before December 30, selection of tree saplings (to be planted) before January 15, 2019, passing of resolutions of by Gram Panchayats before January 31, 2019, preparing the project plan before February 5, 2019, administrative approvals to be taken before February 15, 2019, preparing the tree saplings in nurseries by April 30, 2019, readying the place where tree saplings are to be planted from February 28-April 30, 2019, and the plantation of tree saplings would be carried from July 1-September 30, 2019. The efforts for proper maintenance of tree saplings to start from ground level from September 30, 2019 onwards.

Deputy Commissioner Mr Pardeep Kumar Agrawal informed that a separate page would be formed on District Administration Ludhiana website www.ludhiana.gov.in where people would be encouraged to post their selfies so that they also feel connected to this project. He said that the villages who secure first 10 positions in maintenance of the tree saplings would be specially honoured. Mr Agrawal has appealed to the residents of Ludhiana district to assist the district administration for the success of this project, which is very beneficial for all of us as it would help in saving our environment.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Dr Shena Aggarwal and other senior officials were also present in the meeting.
