Dharamshala, May 18, 2024: Returning Officer for Kangra-Chamba Parliamentary Constituency cum DC Hemraj Bairwa, informed that 1910 polling stations will be established across 17 constituencies for the upcoming elections on June 1. Among these, 1782 will be general booths and 128 have been identified as critical.

Providing further details, Bairwa stated that the Kangra-Chamba parliamentary constituency has a total of 15,02,514 voters, with 7,55,878 male voters and 7,46,631 female voters. This includes voters from 13 assembly constituencies in Kangra district and four in Chamba district. Additionally, 21,518 service voters will participate in the elections.

He highlighted that the number of first-time voters aged 18 to 19 years is 36,293, comprising 19,441 male and 16,852 female voters. There are also 12,964 disabled voters and 17,758 elderly voters above 85 years of age.

To ensure a smooth and fair voting process, 47 Sector Magistrates and 174 Sector Officers will be deployed. The counting of votes will take place on June 4 at five locations: Nurpur, Chamba, Palampur, Jwalamukhi, and Dharamshala. All necessary preparations for the counting have been completed.

Nodal officers have been appointed to oversee various aspects of the election process, including SP Kangra and SP Nurpur for law and order, ADC for SVEEP (Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation), ADM for EVM management, and other officials for transport and welfare of disabled persons.

The Election Commission of India has introduced the C Vigil mobile app to ensure free and fair voting. Through this app, the public can report violations of the Model Code of Conduct.

SDM Kangra, Ishant Jaswal, stated that as per the guidelines from the Election Commission of India, disabled voters and voters above 85 years of age will be provided with the facility to vote from home in all assembly constituencies for the Lok Sabha elections 2024.

Teams will be formed to facilitate this process, which will be conducted from May 21 to May 27, ensuring complete secrecy. Voting from home for elderly and disabled voters will take place daily from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm during this period.
