Computer Science and Engineering, UIET, PU bags prestigious “FIST” grant by DST, GoI
Chandigarh, March 5, 2022: Computer Science and Engineering, UIET, Panjab University has been selected for the prestigious grant under the Fund for Improvement of S&T Infrastructure in universities and higher educational Institutions (FIST) Level-1 Program by DST, Govt. of India. The scheme will provide optimal infrastructure facilities for post-graduate teaching and research, such as, renovation of existing laboratory space involved in PG teaching and research, acquisition of essential equipment, up-gradation of existing facilities, networking & computational facilities including software & databases, scientific & technical books, maintenance & refurbishing of existing and new facilities etc.
CSE has been granted Rs 94 lacs for the duration of 5 years for setting up a Data Centre Unit for the establishment and execution of Centre of Excellence for “Designing and Development of AI driven Predictive Systems for Smart City Operations especially Smart Healthcare and Smart Transportation” for Students, faculty and Researchers.
Prof J K Goswamy, Director, UIET expressed happiness on the great success achieved by the CSE while exhibiting excellence in the quality of teaching and research. He congratulated all the stakeholders and shared that the credit for receiving this prestigious grant goes to the hard work and dedication of the faculty members who are constantly giving their best for the development of the Department and University, contributing significantly towards teaching and research.
