Chandigarh, November 15, 2012: Chunni Lal Bhagat, Local Bodies Minister of Punjab today said that Punjab is all set to computerise all Local Bodies within next six months.

Disclosing this here today, Bhagat said that process has been started to computerised all record of 141 Local Bodies in Punjab with an aim to provide hassle free and transparent services to its citizens. He said that it would help to curb the disease of corruption as well as people would get friendly administration by saving time and money. He said that all internal working of Local Bodies like Bill payment, Birth and death certificates, all kind of sanctions and other public dealing matters would be considered online after the computerization of record.

He said that till now some Local Bodies has been working on papers, resulting great difficulties in maintaining records. He said that Punjab Government has set a target to provide key services to urban people online on the pattern of Fard Kendra's.  

He further said that for the successful implementation of online system, Local Bodies employees, who were not familiar with the working of computer, would get computer training in phases.

Besides that to monitor the daily functioning of Local Bodies, all bodies would be linked with a control room at headquarter in Chandigarh, which would check out the functioning of Local Bodies across the state.
