Congress party nowhere in country: Shanta Kumar

Dharamshala, October 14, 2019: Ex-CM Himachal and Senior leader of BJP in the state Shanta Kumar said, “Right from Maharashtra to Haryana to Dharamshala and Pachad in Himachal, BJP is going to win in big number. Congress is nowhere, it is a headless national party, as its top leader resigned & walked away from the responsibility.”
He added, “I am sad about this condition of the Congress. It is very important to have a strong opposition in the country and Congress being a national party was a good option but today it is nowhere.”
He said in present situation Congress is devoid of president and the post of president has been thrown in the dock of Sonia Gandhi.
Shanta Kumar said that his personal wish was that the Congress stand out from the Nehru family (pariwarwad).
Speaking in a press conference in Dharamshala, Shanta said that he is totally against ‘vanshwad’ (dynasty). He said, “I was CM and minister in Centre, as I was voted for it by the public. So public has a right to choose its representative, and not the leader to choose his/her utradhikaari (successor) from his family relations. My property is Yamini Hotel of Palampur near Dharamshala, I gave it to my son, but my political gains are not my property, it is the honour given to me by public, so how can I give it to my son and crown him as my utradhikari?” He said vanshwad is a political blur.
Talking about the by elections in Dharamshala, Former MP Shanta Kumar said that intellectuals reside in Dharamshala and are enlightened voters, hence will not cast votes on the basis of caste and class. Shanta Kumar said that the talk of triangular contest is just a rumour. Because in the Lok Sabha elections, the people of Dharamshala and district Kangra have elected the BJP candidates by rejecting casteism and classism.
He said that Dharamshala city is conducting two big programs within a month, an Investor Meet on 7 and 8 November and Voter Meet on 21 October. Investor Meet is a historical program that the state has long needed, and PM and home Ministers are coming for it. This time we can say that our industrial policy is the best, so Himachal will attract majority of investors. Over Ministers and the officer class has also worked hard to make new industrial policy. But our opposition people are opposing investor meet because they just wish to oppose it.
In response to questions Shanta Kumar admitted that there have been some shortcomings in the development of Dharamshala and these will be resolved soon.
BJP state president Satpal Satti, Industries Minister Bikram Thakur, MP Kishan Kapoor, state cum media in-charge Rakesh Sharma and Sanjay Sharma were also present on the occasion.
