Chandigarh: Connect Broadband market leader in broadband and fixed line segment has won a prestigious award at an International operator’s conference held at Lisbon, Portugal last week. The Company was awarded the best strategic campaign for its CSR initiative “Connect Net Champs”.

The conference titled, Species 2016, was organized by Finland based leading security and privacy organization, F secure. The annual operator conference is held every year where companies from around the world participate. Broadband operators from across 20 countries participated this year. There were entries from France, England, Poland, Belgium and the USA for this title. Connect Broadband was declared the winner through a voting process amongst 150 delegates present at the forum.

Talking about the recognition that Connect Net Champs received at this International Conference, Mr Arvind Bali, Director and CEO, Connect Broadband & Videocon Telecommunications Limited, said, “I am very happy and proud that Net champs, CSR initiative by Connect Broadband has won accolades at the International forum. The seamless effort and welcoming response from the society has resulted in grand success of this program. This achievement has motivated us to take this initiative to new heights”.

The journey of Net Champs started in September 2015. The Program entered the school classrooms to impart training on internet etiquettes, making it an ideal platform to provide technical know-how to children, parents and teachers. To address the concern on how fast the growing internet revolution is impacting young minds, Connect Net Champs conducted a series of seminars in more than hundred Schools in Punjab followed by a thrilling Quiz contest for students. Four candidates from each School were shortlisted for the next round. More than fifty thousand students attended the seminars.

Children were educated on the advantages of the internet and what children could do offline and online. Information on the potential risks related to internet and how to avoid such risks was also imparted. The potential risks such as exposure to inappropriate content, harassment and bullying, physical molestation, legal and financial scams, viruses and hacking threats were explained to the children. Additionally, important guidelines were imparted on how children can avoid online risks and rules for online safety and how to be a smart internet user.

In the next phase Connect Broadband is taking Net Champs to digital platform. The company is developing an app through which anyone can access the information related to safe and secure browsing on the internet. In this regard Connect has tied up with international operators. The idea behind this is to take this initiative across the globe, so that more and more people learn about internet etiquettes.
