Construction of International Airport at Halwara to complete by June: MP Dr Amar Singh
MP Dr Amar Singh lays foundation stone of terminal building of International Airport today
Halwara (Ludhiana), January 5, 2022: Fatehgarh Sahib MP Dr Amar Singh today informed that the construction of the International Airport, Halwara would be completed by June this year, after which the flights would start. He said this while laying foundation stone of the terminal building of the international airport, here today.
He was also accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma, Senior Congress leader Kamil Boparai, besides several others.
Dr Amar Singh said that the upcoming Airport will drive investment, jobs and development towards Halwara and Raikot. He said that the approach road has already been constructed and from today onwards, construction of the terminal building has started.
He said that this international airport is being constructed with a cost of Rs 46.91 crore and the total covered area of the interim building would be 2000 sq m. He said that all construction works related to this airport would be completed by June 30, 2022.
DC Varinder Kumar Sharma said that the work was going on in full swing and the Government was fully prepared to start flights by July this year.
Congress Leader Kamil Boparai said that the establishment of Airport will attract new industries in the district.
Later, the MP also laid foundation stone of 66 kv PSPCL sub station at village Barmi, foundation stone of repair and upgradation of sub divisional hospital Raikot and inauguration of oxygen plant, medical gas pipeline and ETP plant in hospital premises, and foundation stone of Mother Child Block in sub divisional hospital Raikot. He also inaugurated a 66kv sub station at village Jalaldiwal.
