Chandigarh, March 7, 2024: Professor Unnat Pandit, Controller General of Patents, Designs and Trademarks interacted with researchers of Panjab University today in seminar hall of Central Instrumentation Laboratory (CIL). He urged scientists to worry about Technology Readiness Level (TRL), Commercial Readiness Level (CRL) and Societal Readiness Level (SRL) of research they are doing. Professor Unnat opined that TRL, CRL and SRL should be strong 3 legs on which research of a scientist should be stationed. Technology Readiness Levels (TRL) are a type of measurement system used to assess the maturity level of a particular technology. Professor Unnat coined terms CRL and SRL. CRL measures probability of commercialization of a Technology and SRL measures relevance of a Technology to needs of Society. Professor Unnat articulated that now aim of our Nation is to successfully realize commercialization of Patents that have been granted.
