Cotton-belt farmers to get adequate water supply for irrigation: Pannu

Ferozepur, May 17, 2018: The farmers of Abohar and Fazilka cotton-belt areas will be provided with necessary canal water during the summer season so that they may not face, said Kahan Singh Pannu, Secretary Agriculture, Kahan Singh Pannu after visiting Hari Ke Head Works, Gurditti Wala Head, Ferozepur and Sirhind Feeders. He was accompanied with Jagmohan Singh Mann, Chief Engineer, Irrigation Department, Punjab.

Pannu said, Due to lack of water, the farmers of Abohar and Fazilka cotton-bet area had been facing great difficulty who cultivate cotton in Abohar, Fazilka areas had been facing a heavy difficulty which has an effect on the production of the cotton crop. Today is a special tour with a purpose to solve the problems of the farmers for which special instructions from Capt Amarinder Singh, Chief Minister, have been issued to the officials of Irrigation Department to solve the problems of the farmers.

Pannu assured for no problem to the cotton-belt farmers for irrigation and directed the officials to provide the water adequate water supply to the farmers for cotton cultivation. He also directed the Irrigation Department officials to run the Lift Pump of Sirhind Feeder canal only at the time of sowing of paddy crop only.

On this occasion Mr H.S. Chahal S.E. Irrigation Department, Mr R.K. Gupta, S.E., S. Mukhtiar Singh Rana XEN, S. Hakam Singh XEN Hari Ke Division besides officers of irrigation and agriculture department were present.
