COWE’s services sought to train street vendors in marketing and branding
COWE aims to turn 150 rural women into food entrepreneurs
Hyderabad, August 30, 2022: Confederation of Women Entrepreneurs of India (COWE), the homegrown national body of women entrepreneurs’ help sought in training street vendors of Warangal, informed Jyotsna, Chairperson of COWE Telangana in a press note issued in Hyderabad today.
Gundu Sudha Rani, Mayor of Warangal Municipal Corporation while gracing purpose driven cookery contest organized by COWE and Hands in Hospitality Chef’s Association in Warangal, asked COWE if they could train street vendors of Warangal in Marketing and Branding.
The Warangal city has 80,000 street vendors of which 27000 availed loans and 40,000 registered for loans. They need to be trained in marketing, self-confidence and branding. And she urged COWE to help the Municipal Corporation.
The Warangal Mayor further asked COWE if they have any alternative to plastic bags.
The Warangal city banned plastic bags of less than 120 microns in that city. As an alternative they paper and jute bags. The corporation trained a few street vendors to manufacture paper and jute bags. But they are unable to brand well and market their products. Mayor also sought COWE’s help in that regard.
COWE in the recent past embarked on a novel initiative to expand its footprint to districts. They have designed a purpose-driven contest along with Hands in Hospitality Chef’s Association to organise “PAU"SHE"TIK Cooking competition”, titled “Mera Swad Mera Swaasth” with a difference. It is being organized across cities in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
While the contest is over in Andhra Pradesh, it is underway in Telangana. It conducted one at Warangal yesterday and will organise two more in Nizamabad on 8th September and Mahabubnagar on 22nd September. The finals will be held on 16th October in Hyderabad.
The theme of the competition is Paushetik Vegetarian.
Sandhya Reddy, Director of COWE says it is a contest with a purpose through which talented rural women with entrepreneurial aspirations are spotted and turned into women entrepreneurs.
