CPI, CPI (M), RMPI, MCPI (U) demand free and fair elections to MCL

Ludhiana, February 20, 2018: A joint meeting of the left parties including Communist Party of India (CPI), CPI (M), Revolutionary Marxist Party of India (RMPI), MCPI (U) was held today and demanded free and fair elections to the municipal corporation, Ludhiana. This has become very important in the wake of attack on the LIP and AAP workers and leaders by the organized goons of ruling Congress in Model Town Ext., Shimlapuri and Haibowal. The left parties demanded that central forces be deployed hence forth because the state police is working on the directions of the ruling party in a biased manner. There is serious apprehension that as the election comes near more such incidents may happen. It is a shame that despite the fact that the LIP MLA was attacked in the house of a supporter, no FIR has been lodged against the accused so far.
The meeting decided to unitedly campaign for the candidates Randhir Singh Dhira CPI from Ward No.78, Com Sanjay Kumar CPI from Ward No.94, Com Ajit Chaurasia CPI from Ward No.95, Com Kulwant Kaur from Ward No.7 as independent, Com Rajwinder Kaur from Ward 22 as independent, Com Gurjit Singh Kala from Ward.70 as independent, Com Mrs.Geeta from Ward No.23 as independent and Com Durgawati from Ward No.29 as independent.
Those who attended the meeting include Comrades D P Maur, Gurnam Gill & Ramesh Rattan CPI, Sukhwinder Singh Lotey CPI(M), Com Raghbir Benipal & Amarjit Singh Sehjaad - RMPI, Com Kuldeep Singh Advocate – MCPIU and Com Tarsem Jodhan former MLA.
