Ludhiana, August 19, 2016: The Communist Party of India (CPI) has strongly condemned the decision of the Adesh University to increase the fee for MBBS course to 58.56 lakhs. This is total loot and ironically the government is sleeping over it. The secretary of the Punjab State unit of the CPI Com Hardev Arshi has demanded from the state government to immediately put a cap on the tuition fee to be charged by the private colleges. Whereas the fee in the government colleges is 4.8 lakhs, such an exorbitant difference in the tuition fee will defeat the basic purpose of admitting the meritorious students in the MBBS course. Dr Arun Mitra – Member State council CPI said that only a miniscule number of population can afford to pay such high fees. The higher education in this way will become completely out of reach of the common man. By increasing the fee to such a high amount will deny admission to those who are on merit but cannot afford this much amount. This must be withdrawn and the fee should be to maximum double of the government fee.
