Crackdown on criminal elements involved in activities of illegal mining

Khanna: Khanna police claimed to have crackdown on illegal mining trade with the arrest of an inter-state hardcore criminal. The police also seized 4 illegal weapons and a car from the accused.

The accused has been identified as Gurinder Singh alias Ginda, a resident of a village of Samrala falls in Khanna police district.        

SSP Khanna Gursharandeep Singh said that on the directions of Punjab Government, RN Dhoke, Enforcement Director, Mining, Punjab initiated a crackdown on persons involved in nefarious activities of illegal mining. These illegal activities are causing immense ecological damage and huge loss to the state exchequer.  

He said there was an intelligence input that some criminal elements are involved in illegal mining in Rahon area of district SBS Nagar. The specific input was later shared with Gursharandeep Singh Grewal, SSP, Khanna to take stern action against the violators.          

Gursharandeep Singh Grewal, SSP, Khanna claimed that they acted swiftly on the input shared by Enforcement Director, Mining and arrested Gurinder Singh alias Ginda R/o Village Bhorla Tehsil Samrala alongwith 4 illegal country made weapons and a Swift Dzire Car. Gurinder alias Ginda has been allegedly working as a main gang leader in Rahon area for the activities pertaining to illegal sand mining along with his associates. Gurinder Singh alias Ginda is allegedly a hardcore criminal and wanted in many cases of murder and robbery in Punjab and Gujarat.                 

A case u/s 379 IPC, and Arms Act has been registered against Gurinder alias Ginda at PS Machhiwara Sahib. SSP, Khanna  added that Insp Rajesh Thakur SHO Machhiwara Sahib along with police party set up the nakabandi near Rahon river bridge Machhiwara Sahib and apprehended Gurinder Singh and Ginda with illegal weapons and car. On his frisking, 2 pistols .32 bore, 2 Magazines, 10 live cartridges and 2 pistols .315 bore, 2 live Cartridges were recovered. In his initial interrogation, Gurinder alias Ginda revealed that he is doing illegal mining with Raju Gujjar R/o Ratnana, PS Rahon, SBS Nagar and Karanvir Singh alias Kavi R/o Balion, PS Samrala and others in the river bed of Satluj in Rahon area. 

During his questioning, Gurinder alias Ginda revealed that he is wanted in high profile murder case in Gujarat. He along with two persons who were running a dhaba in Gujarat reportedly killed Ashish Maharaj with whom dhaba owners had a property dispute. In this connection a criminal case is registered against them at PS Mandvi, District Kachh, Gujarat. Ginda is absconder in this murder case and evading his arrest since then by staying at different places in disguise. 

He had snatched an Ertiga car at gunpoint near Laddowal Toll Plaza, Ludhiana. He also fired gun shots to create a panic in general public near Garshankar along with his companion gangster Gurjinder Singh Sonu. It has come to light that he had planned to rob an NRI family of Una at gunpoint for cash.

Gurinder Ginda is being questioned for his links with other criminals in the region and with the suppliers of illegal weapons in MP and UP.
