Creative Hand Painting Techniques – Workshop at UIFT
University Institute of Fashion Technology and Vocational Development hosted a ‘Creative Fabric Painting Techniques’ workshop for students on 30th September.
Chandigarh, October 1, 2022: University Institute of Fashion Technology and Vocational Development hosted a ‘Creative Fabric Painting Techniques’ workshop for students on 30th September. Dr. Anu H. Gupta, Chairperson UIFT & VD, welcomed the resource person and the participants, stating that this workshop is an attempt to give a creative vent to the thought process of budding designers and entrepreneurs, and that the techniques of the workshop will help many in improvising products of their start-ups.
Around 40 students attended the workshop led by artist Meenu Sachdeva, who is an expert in the field and is passionate about sharing her knowledge with young minds. She told the students about her struggle to establish herself as a successful artist. Her consistent work, improvisation, and incorporating creativity into her artwork and products aided her in establishing herself. The resource person first showed the students hand-painted dupattas. These pieces were the epitome of delicacy and perfection. She also taught the students various strokes and techniques that can be used to create a variety of articles. Students learned about Chinese strokes, different types of flowers, and the colour and water ratio needed for soft finishes.Daily use items such as lace paper, bobbin rolls, empty tubes, bottle caps, and sponges were used to create various types of designs, which is a great approach from both an environmental and artistic standpoint. Ms Kirti, Guest faculty, UIFT &VD along with the resource person creatively guided and helped the students during the workshop to create a variety of fabric textures.
