Kapurthala, November 28, 2012: The district police have booked a boy and his father on the charges of marrying a minor girl.
The action has been taken on the complaint filed by the grandparents of the victim girl.
Police sources revealed that Mangal Singh, a resident of nearby village Villa Kothi, lodged a complaint alleging that Balwant Singh, a resident of village Toti under Sultanpur Lodhi police station took her minor granddaughter by alluring her on the pretext of marrying her on November 8.
“I had tried my level best to get my granddaughter back who had lost her father 12 years ago but remained failed,” said the complainant.
“The date of birth of my granddaughter as per her school records is August 2, 1997,” he claimed in his complaint alleging that, “It has come to notice that Balwinder Singh and his father Karnail Singh have managed to solemnise her marriage in some Guruduwara few days ago.”
Police have booked both Balwant Singh and Karnail Singh under Sections 363, 366-A and 120-B of Indian Penal Code, police source added.
