Criminal module busted by CI Wing; Two arrested with arms and ammunition
Sleuths belonging to Counter Intelligence (CI) Wing of Punjab police achieved a major success with the arrest of two persons and recovered one hand grenade, one pistol (.32 bore) along with four live cartridges during a special operation.
Ferozepur, January 15, 2025: Sleuths belonging to Counter Intelligence (CI) Wing of Punjab police achieved a major success with the arrest of two persons and recovered one hand grenade, one pistol (.32 bore) along with four live cartridges during a special operation.
While divulging details, AIG Counter Intelligence Lakhbir Singh said that following the specific inputs, a special operation had been launched last week on January 8 in Bahadurwala village in Ferozepur Sadar area. He said that during the operation, one accused named as Jagtar Singh alias Jagga had been nabbed by CI wing sleuths with one Motorcycle No. PB-02-EN-7263. “During his search, one pistol (.32 bore alongwith 04 live cartridges) were recovered from him. However one of his associate identified as Jashanpreet alias Jashan, resident of Nangal Guru village in Amritsar, who was staying in Jagtar’s house, managed to escape and went to Maharashtra”, said AIG.
The AIG said the CI team reached Maharashtra on January 9, where the accused Jashanpreet was arrested. During police remand, on 14-01-2025, one Hand Grenade was recovered from Harike- Khalra GT road, near Patti Mour, Tarn Taran on the indication of accused Jashanpreet.
The AIG said that during the investigation, it has been revealed that they had to target any Police officer or Police Station in Amrtisar area on the instructions of UK-based handler Nishan Singh resident of Jauria Kalan village in Gurdaspur district. “The registration number of the motorcycle recovered from accused Jagtar has also been tempered”, said AIG adding that more accused have been figured from their disclosure and raids are being conducted to arrest them.
Meanwhile the accused have been booked under sections 25, 54, 59 of Arms Act and Sections 4, 5 of Explosive Act at State Special Operation Cell (SSOC) Fazilka (FIR No. 1 Dated 15.01.2025).
