The Chief Secretary to the Government of Punjab Survesh  Kaushal on Friday during surprise checking at Suwidha Centre, Ludhiana.

Ludhiana, June 20, 2014: The Chief Secretary to the Government of Punjab Survesh  Kaushal has ordered a vigilance inquiry in to the role ofagents in the issuance of Driving Licences at Suwidha Centre and DistrictTransport Office, Ludhiana after finding many loopholes in the whole official process during a surprise check in morning today.
In the continuation of surprise checks at Civil secretariat, Chandigarh, Kaushal today visited Suwidha centre and District Transport Office in morning at 9.15, where it was found that agents were playing a role in the formation of driving licenses after taking huge money from masses. During the checking many agents left the scene after leaving more than 60 filled forms to make licenses. On the order of Chief Secretary all these forms have been seized, on which the CS has marked a vigilance inquiry. Kaushal has also issued a warning to the District Transport Officer, Anil Garg to put his house in order immediately or face the strict departmental and criminal action by the Punjab Government.
On the complaint of an applicant regarding the non availability of revenue stamps in suwidha centre, CS has ordered to issue charge sheet to accountant of the suwidha centre. Kaushal has also asked the ADC(Development) to regularly monitor the functioning of Suwidha centre so the common man should not face any difficulty.
Later, Civil Surgeon office was also checked by the Chief Secretary where all official works running smoothly. Civil Surgeon has also briefed the Chief Secretary about the progress of drug de-addiction centers in Ludhiana district.
Talking to media persons, Kaushal said that surprise checks would be done in other district also and all efforts would be made to provide citizen services to common man in a hassle free manner under the Right to Service Act.
Deputy Commissioner Rajat Aggarwal and Director Governance Reforms Kavita Singh were also present on the occasion.
