CT Alumnus promotes blue and green revolution in Punjab

CT Alumnus develops Punjab's First Integrated Organic Salad Aquaculture Farm Jalandhar, January 29, 2019: With an aim to enhance the income of marginal farmers and bring the educated youth of Punjab into agriculture, CT Group of Institutions alumnus named Rohit Gupta, Bachelors in Information Technology 2016 batch pass out, has brought the latest technology in aquaculture, integrated with agriculture to produce 100% chemical free vegetables by the name Aarpun Farms in village Lambra, Jalandhar. He has developed an integrated farming unit for the small and marginal farmers which makes farming sustainable by generating adequate income by supplementing agriculture income with aquaculture income (raising Fish + vegetables together). Telling about his unique initiative Rohit said, “These systems not only provide farmers with a sustainable livelihood but offer consumers a chemical free produce as well as environmentally sustainable as it consumes only 10% water as against conventional farming. The project is committed towards building a culture of self-sufficiency, along with developing new skills and knowledge on eco-friendly sustainable food production for rural farmers.” He further said, “It is Punjab's First Integrated Organic Salad Aquaculture Farm having Spinach, Cherry Tomatoes, Broccoli, Red Ruby Lettuce, Lettuce Iceberg planted in High densities along with high density fishes. Seeing the growth and technology coming into agriculture inspires me to adopt and bring it to the agricultural hub of India, My birth place Punjab. Seeing latest techniques in farming analysing its scope to help the marginal farmers and multiplying their income, we started building a prototype of integrated farming in Jalandhar. Due to excessive use of chemicals and pesticides, the soil has lost its nutrition and water level has gone down.” Manbir Singh, Managing Director appreciated the idea and effort of Rohit and said, “To make farming sustainable, our proud alumnus has developed a prototype which is environment friendly and uses 90% less water than traditional farming and gives chemical and pesticides free produce which is organic and completely safe for the consumption. It is one of its kind farming in Punjab.”
