CT University organizes 1st Prof. (Dr.) Basant K. Sharma Memorial National Moot Court Competition
Ludhiana, November 15, 2021: School of Law, CT University virtually organised 1st Prof. (Dr.) Basant K. Sharma Memorial National Moot Court Competition. In total, 28 teams from all over India participated in the competition making it a gala event. The theme of the competition and proposition was based on Family Law matters.
The Moot Court Competition was inaugurated by the esteemed presence of revered guests namely Prof. (Dr.) Balram K Gupta, Director Academics , Chandigarh Judicial Academy; Prof. (Dr.) Davinder Singh, Chairman, Dept. of Laws and Dr.Harsh Sadawarti, Vice Chancellor, CT University.
While welcoming the participants and guests, Dr. Balram Gupta and Prof. Davinder Singh spoke about the association of Panjab University with (Late) Dr. Basant K. Sharma while highlighting his contribution towards the legal field and society. Dr. Davinder Singh guided all the teams and the students about the importance of mooting for budding lawyers.
The National Moot Competition was concluded with a final session between the two best teams out of 28 teams. Team from Ryat College of Law, Rail Majra, Punjab was felicitated with the winner’s trophy and the team from Army Institute of Laws, Mohali won the Runners-Up Trophy. Team from Lovely Professional University, Jalandhar and ICFAI, Hyderabad won best memorial.
Dr Simranjeet Kaur Gill, Principal, School of Law, said, “Moot court has always been a flyover between law students and conceptually practical knowledge of facts and issues under the blue of legal framework. I congratulate the team for organizing the first National Moot court and to carry forward the celebrated relation of Theory and Practical in Laws.”
