CT University organizes 2nd CT Youth Parliament
The 2nd CT Youth Parliament, organized by the School of Law at CT University in Ludhiana, provided a remarkable opportunity for young minds to gain insights into the functioning of a parliamentary democracy. This platform aimed to offer an exceptional experience for youth to understand the role of diplomats and the deliberations carried out by legislative bodies in the formulation of laws. The topic of discussion during the event was the Uniform Civil Code, which seeks to create a single set of laws applicable to all Indian citizens, irrespective of their religious affiliations.
Ludhiana, October 20, 2023: The 2nd CT Youth Parliament, organized by the School of Law at CT University in Ludhiana, provided a remarkable opportunity for young minds to gain insights into the functioning of a parliamentary democracy. This platform aimed to offer an exceptional experience for youth to understand the role of diplomats and the deliberations carried out by legislative bodies in the formulation of laws. The topic of discussion during the event was the Uniform Civil Code, which seeks to create a single set of laws applicable to all Indian citizens, irrespective of their religious affiliations.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation, with over 90 delegates representing various parliamentary portfolios from schools across Punjab. They engaged in passionate debates and discussions on the Uniform Civil Code. The session was coordinated by Guest Speaker Saurav Bajaj, with Harveer Kaur and Vishwaas Vaid serving as Deputy Speakers.
The event was graced by esteemed guests, with Dr. Anirudh Gupta, CEO of DCM Group of Institutions, as the Chief Guest, and Thabang Linus Kholumo, Ambassador of Lesotho, as the Guest of Honour. The presence of CT University's leadership, including Chancellor Charanjit Singh Channi, Pro-Chancellor Dr. Manbir Singh, Vice Chairman Harpreet Singh, Vice Chancellor Dr. Abhishek Tripathi, and Dean Academics Dr. Avadhesh Kumar Gupta, added significant value to the occasion. The Principal of the School of Law, Dr. Simranjeet Kaur Gill, was also actively involved in the session.
The delegates demonstrated a high level of enthusiasm and shared their perspectives on the intricacies and shortcomings of the Uniform Civil Code bill. Sholab Arora, who represented the portfolio of Narendra Modi, was recognized as the Best Parliamentarian, while Yogima Hans, representing the portfolio of Rahul Gandhi, was awarded the title of Most Popular Parliamentarian. Prabhjot Singh Chahal received the award for Outstanding Parliamentarian.
Pro-Vice Chancellor of the University, Dr. Abhishek Tripathi, commended the efforts of the entire School of Law team for organizing a well-structured and educational event. The Principal of the School of Law, Dr. Simranjeet Kaur Gill, also applauded the dedication of all the delegates and encouraged other students to actively participate in such events.
