Ludhiana, June  19, 2023: The Department of Anaesthesia and Operation Theatre Technology, School of Healthcare and Paramedical Sciences at CT University, organized a highly informative Expert Talk on Basic Life Support (BLS) with an aim to raise awareness among healthcare students about the critical skillset of BLS.

The session witnessed the participation of 200+ students of healthcare. It provided a platform for students to acquire theoretical knowledge and hands-on skills necessary to respond to medical emergencies effectively, thereby ensuring the best possible patient outcomes.

During the expert talk, students delved into the importance of rapid response and understanding the "chain of survival" in emergency situations. They were trained in the relief of foreign-body airway obstruction (choking) for both adults and infants, further enhancing their emergency response capabilities.

The session covered various essential skills, including recognizing a cardiac arrest, early activation of the emergency response system, quick and confident response, and performing high-quality cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for victims of all ages. Students learned both single-rescuer CPR and multi-rescuer team CPR techniques, along with early usage of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and adequate ventilation delivery.

The focus of the session was to equip students with the knowledge and skills required to perform high-quality CPR confidently. The interactive nature of the session allowed students to actively engage and grasp the concepts effectively, making the learning experience fruitful and beneficial.
