Ludhiana, October, 2022: School of Law, CT University organizes Legal Aid Camp: An Awareness Drive at Jain Ashram , Jagraon . Legal Awareness Program provides free and competent legal services to the weaker section of the society.
This awareness camp may help the people to recognize their Civil, Political, Social and Cultural rights. Legal aid is required in many forms at various stages for obtaining guidance for resolving disputes in courts, tribunals or other authorities. It has manifold facets such as the explosion in population, the vast change brought about by scientific technological and other development and all around enlarged field of human activity reflected in modern society and the consequent increases in litigation in courts and the other forums demand the service of competent person with expertise in law is required in many steps and at different forums and levels and should be made available.
School of Law CT University, organized Free Legal Aid Camp, An Awareness Drive, in association with District Legal Service Authority Ludhiana, at Jain Ashram , Kamal Chowk , Jagraon. Camp was organized to make people aware of their rights and about the role, activities and functioning of the legal services institutions. People discussed their issues and were provided with the legal knowledge in regards to it. Faculty and Students of Legal Aid Committee sensitized the persons about their Child Abuse Rights, Consumer Rights, right to information, FIR (First Information Report), Free Legal Aid, Right to Education, etc.
Advocates from DLSA had a session with the law students as a part of their clinical legal education and then addressed personal queries of around 30 persons, who profited immensely by availing free legal advice in the camp. Legal Aid Clinic, School of Law, CT University aims to create awareness at the grass root level and equip individuals, especially the vulnerable sections of society to realize their Rights, enabling access to Justice through seminars, camps and taking up their issues to DLSA while helping them to avail free legal aid.
Dr Simranjit Kaur Gill, Principal, School of Law appreciated the team of her law school and said that Legal Aid Clinics are to educate people about legal rights, promoting legal services, spreading legal and social awareness etc. Therefore, Benefit of these legal aid camps directly goes to the students of law as they practice to provide legal assistance to the clients, draft legal documents, do research on the matter in hand and sometimes also give oral argumentations in the courts.
